The next Pokemon TCG set drops on 22nd May 2026, and if you've been keeping half an eye on the hobby lately, you already know what everyone's talking about.
Chaos Rising is the fourth set in the Mega Evolution block. It leans hard into the Legends: Z-A storyline. Lumiose City is in chaos, Mega Floette ex is the culprit, and Mega Greninja ex is leading the charge to stop her.
Whether you're a collector hunting the best art or a player building a Mega Evolution deck, here's everything worth knowing ahead of release.
What Is Chaos Rising?
Chaos Rising is the English version of Japan's Ninja Spinner set. It contains 122 cards total, making it one of the more compact releases in recent memory. That's not a bad thing.
Smaller sets with a tighter hit pool tend to feel more rewarding to open. Every pack matters more when the secret rare count isn't spread across 200+ cards.
Products at Launch
Booster Pack — 10 cards + 1 Basic Energy + TCG Live code
Elite Trainer Box — 9 packs + exclusive Fennekin promo
Pokemon Center Exclusive ETB — 11 packs + two Fennekin foil promos (one PC-stamped)
Build and Battle Box — 4 packs + 40-card prerelease deck + one of: Delphox, Ampharos, Crobat, or Goodra promo

The Pokemon Center ETB has been the strongest-holding sealed product across the Mega Evolution series. If sealed is your interest, that's the one to watch.
The Chase Cards
Here's a rundown of what collectors are hunting from this set, top to bottom.

Mega Greninja ex — Mega Hyper Rare
This is the card. The undisputed top pull of the entire set. The Mega Hyper Rare features Greninja inverted against an etched metallic gold background.
Greninja's popularity as a character gives this one serious long-term collector appeal. It's not just a set chase, it's a PC card.
Keep an eye on our Japanese singles page as stock comes in.
Mega Greninja ex — Special Illustration Rare
Illustrated by Susumu Maeya, the SIR artwork shows the full Greninja evolutionary line across a flowing pond scene. Froakie and Frogadier Illustration Rares complete the picture alongside it.
Connected artworks are always a draw for collectors. This one is among the cleaner examples from the entire Mega Evolution era.

Cinccino ex — Special Illustration Rare
Cinccino has a loyal collector following, and this SIR is expected to hold up well. Character-focused artwork on non-Greninja SIRs tends to perform better than people predict.
Mega Floette ex — Special Art Rare
The main antagonist of the set. The SAR ties directly into the AZ storyline from Pokemon X and Y.
AZ spent thousands of years searching for his Floette. That kind of narrative weight gives this card an emotional pull that pure power-level cards rarely match.
AZ's Tranquility — Special Art Rare
A quiet moment between AZ and Floette, captured in the SAR artwork. Trainer and Supporter SARs with strong character lore consistently hold collector interest over time. The Legends: Z-A connection adds extra appeal for fans of the game.
Roxie's Performance — Special Art Rare
Roxie from Black and White gets her spotlight here. The SAR has been well-received by Unova-era fans. Not the biggest chase in the set, but a solid addition for anyone building a character collection.
Pull Rates: Know Before You Open
You can expect a Double Rare or higher roughly once every 3.5 packs, which is solid for general hits. The Mega Greninja SIR and Mega Hyper Rare are among the rarest pulls in the set though.
If you're targeting a specific card, buying the single is almost always more economical than chasing it through packs. The maths rarely works in your favour.

Is Chaos Rising Worth It?
Some collector sentiment lands on this being a 'Greninja or bust' set in terms of top-end hits. That's a fair take. But the SAR lineup is genuinely strong, the connected artwork on the Greninja line is one of the better art moments of the era, and the AZ storyline gives the set emotional depth that pure hype-chase sets usually miss.
For competitive players, Mega Greninja ex looks genuinely solid in Standard format. Demand from that side of the community should keep interest high well beyond launch week.
